About Afixim-DL 200mg/500mg Tablet

CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN belongs to a class of drugs called antibiotics used to treat several bacterial infections of the urinary tract, ears, nose, throat, chest and lungs. The bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grows in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiple very quickly. CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN does not work against infections caused by the virus.

CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN is a combination of two antibiotics, namely: Cefixime and Dicloxacillin.  CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN works by interfering with the formation of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) that is necessary for their survival. Thereby damages the bacterial cell wall and kills bacteria.

CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN is a combination of two broad-spectrum antibiotics: Cefixime and Dicloxacillin that act against both aerobic (grow in the presence of oxygen) and anaerobic (grow in the absence of oxygen) gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN is used in the treatment of several bacterial infections. CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN interferes with the formation of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) that is necessary for their survival. Thereby damages the bacterial cell wall and kills bacteria.

Directions for Use

CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN can be taken with or without food as advised by your doctor. The tablet form of CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. Do not take CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN while getting ready for bed or lying down to prevent stomach irritation or heartburn.

If you are allergic to CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN, penicillins or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you have kidney or liver problems, asthma, bleeding or blood clotting disorder, stomach or intestinal disorder such as inflammation of the large intestine, inform your doctor before taking CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN. Dicloxacillin may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. Therefore, discuss with your doctor about other contraceptive methods such as using non-hormonal birth control measures such as condom, spermicide or diaphragm to avoid pregnancy while taking CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN. Drive only if you are alert as CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN may reduce alertness or cause confusion. You are recommended to complete the full course of CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN as prescribed by your doctor for effective results. CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN may interact with certain tests such as glucose (sugar) in urine and give unusual results. Therefore, inform the doctor that you are using CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN before undergoing any tests.

Drug-Drug Interaction:

CEFIXIME+DICLOXACILLIN may interact with a blood thinner (warfarin), water tablet (furosemide) and antibiotic (azithromycin).
